Take precautions with your electrical appliances during a Thunder Storm

During a Thunderstorm it is possible that your electrical appliances are at risk. We've been told on many occasions that it is wise to switch off and unplug all appliances just to be sure. The chances of lightning actually hitting you or your home are very high, however it is probably a good idea to err on the side of caution anyway.

The good news is that you don't actually have to run around the house at the first sign of a storm and unplug everything. You can pick up a surge-protector/power board from your local supermarket, electrical store or hardware store from as little as $5.

Whilst this may be slightly overkill to buy one for each appliance such as the kettle or toaster for example...we highly recommend that you use them for your computers, TV and phone chargers at the very least. Particularly as those items might hold sensitive and/or personal data that you wouldn't want to lose.
